1916-2008
Virgil Grant Merrill was born June 15, 1916, in Smithfield, Utah, to Virgil Taylor and Julia Irene Wheeler. He died May 2, 2008, in Heber City, Utah, from causes incident to old age. He married La Vene Mallory on Aug. 19, 1936, in Brigham City, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple on Feb. 28, 1955. He was preceded in death by his oldest son, Dewayne Grant. He is survived by his wife and by his children, Rhonda Lynn Smith of Maricopa, Ariz., Virgil Brent (Sara) of Salt Lake City, Monty Craig (Dee) of Salt Lake City and Toni Lee (Danny) Thomas of Heber City; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; sister, Clea Coburn; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday, May 7, at Nelson Funeral Home, 162 E. 400 North, Logan. Friends and family may call at 10:30 a.m. prior to the services. His reuinon on the other side with his son and parents must have been a wonderfully joyous occasion!
